A. Processing of Personal Data of your Application

1.    Do I have to submit personal data?

The submission of an application and thus the provision of personal data is voluntary. There is no legal or contractual obligation to apply and thus to transmit personal data. However, an application without the provision of personal data is not possible.

2.    What is the data used for?

The data will be used for the purpose of processing your application for the Competition. Further, in case that your application was accepted, the data is used to organize and conduct the Competition you have applied for and for sending information and invitations to future events and projects of this kind (co-)organized by young leaders GmbH.

3.    Who is the data transferred to?

The Debate is organized and conducted with the following cooperation partners:

  • European Petrochemical Association A.I.S.B.L./I.V.Z.W. (EPCA), Brussels.
  • PlasticsEurope AISBL, Brussels.

In case your application was accepted, we will share the data with our project partners for the sole purpose of the further handling and processing of your application and for the organization and conducting the Competition.

4.    What is the legal basis for the data processing?

Legal basis for the above-mentioned data processing is

  • with regard to the processing of the application and the handling, organization and conducting of the Debate Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. b DSGVO;
  • with regard to the sharing of the data with the above-mentioned entities Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. b GDPR

5.    How long is the data being processed and stored?

The data will be deleted when the aforementioned purpose ceases to apply, provided that there are no legal obligations to store the data longer. Otherwise they will be deleted at the latest upon expiry of these statutory retention periods.

B. Photographs and videos taken during the event

Explanation, processing purpose and legal basis:

During the event, photos and video recordings will be taken by us or on our behalf. These recordings may be published online and offline in the context of reports on our events by us and by third parties. As far as you are recognizable on such photographs, they contain personal data in relation to your person in the sense of the data protection law.

From the data protection law point of view, the processing of the personal data contained in the photos and videos, in particular their creation and publication, takes place on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to document the events we organize visually and to have them documented and reported to the public.

With regard to the right to your own picture pursuant to Sections 22 ff. of the German Copyright Act on Works of Art and Photography (KunstUrhG), in the event of a successful application, we will ask you separately for your consent to publish the recordings taken.

Right to Object:

Where the data processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 s. 1 lit. f GDPR, you have the right of objection, without prejudice to further rights. See below (“Your Rights”).

C. Your Rights

  1. You have the right to request confirmation from us as to whether we are processing personal data relating to you. If this is the case, you have a right to information about this personal data in the legal scope (Art. 15 GDPR in connection with § 34 BDSG). This does not apply if
  • the data is only stored because it may not be deleted due to legal or statutory retention regulations or
  • the data is used exclusively for data backup or data protection control purposes

and the provision of information would require a disproportionate effort and processing for other purposes is excluded by appropriate technical and organisational measures.

  1. You also have the right to request the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you and, where applicable, the completion of incomplete personal data, including by means of a supplementary declaration, taking into account the purposes of the processing (Article 16 GDPR).
  2. In the cases referred to in Article 17 para. 1 lit. a to f GDPR, you also have a right to have your personal data deleted, unless an exception is provided for in Article 17 para. 3 GDPR, and in the cases referred to in Article 18 para. 1 GDPR, a right to have processing restricted.
  3. In the cases referred to in Article 20 para. 1 GDPR you also have the right to data transportability.
  4. Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes GDPR.
  5. Right to object where the data processing is based on legitimate interest

You have the right to object, on grounds relating your particular situation, at any time to processing of personal data concerning him or her which is based Art. 6 (1) s. 1 lit (f) or (e) GDPR.
